Creating a Path to Wellness

When creating a path to wellness for yourself it’s important to reflect on why you feel there is a need to begin with. It could be due to burnout, grief, or even stress at work. Once you have determined the need, you can then think of the how creating a path to wellness can be beneficial to your overall health. Whether it's daily walks or starting a yoga practice, finding the right tools for you can have long term effects.

I have been cultivating a steady path to wellness since 2020 and I’ve found there are a few things that work for me and I continue to use them daily in my wellness practice.

Getting better Sleep

Limiting Screen Time

Daily Walks in Nature

Using Essential Oils

Drinking Herbal Teas

I usually start my day with a cup of herbal tea. From there I go into my yoga practice and meditation. Depending on the day it might be a quick one or a more lengthy practice. Each day I walk 10,000 steps or more. This means, I’m either walking to or from the bus, taking a walk around the neighborhood or even walking to the grocery store. At night I try to limit screen time and ensure I don’t have screen lights on before bed. Getting at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night is essential for me to function. Before going to bed I usually massage my feet with ayurvedic oils and add some lavender to my forehead.

It’s important for me to add, what works for me might not work for you. But, the important thing is to assess your own individual needs. If you have never thought about using any of the tools above the time to start thinking about them is now. You don’t have to go out and spend money you can just start by taking daily walks in nature. This is your reminder that wellness doesn’t just come in the form of a spa day. It’s the actions that we complete daily to support our long term healing and health.
